My name is Melisa, and I’m a BACP Registered Psychotherapist, BPS Community Champion, and Final-Year Trainee Counselling Psychologist
What sets my career coaching apart?
Drawing from my own clinical experience, I help you develop not just a stronger application, but the psychological thinking and professional identity that selection panels typically look for. What makes my career coaching unique is that I've recently walked the exact path you're on, and I've since helped dozens of graduates navigate it successfully.
During my own career journey, I successfully secured three Assistant Psychologist offers from just 16 applications, and achieved a 100% success rate in my Doctorate applications on my first attempt. These achievements came from understanding exactly what employers and training programmes are looking for.
A bit about me
I grew up in Belgium, I'm half Puerto Rican and half Turkish, and I've spent my entire academic and professional career in the UK (around 10 years). So I understand what it's like to navigate systems that weren't designed with you in mind, and I know firsthand how confusing it can be when you're trying to figure it out by yourself.
I fell in love with psychology at 13 years old and (basically) haven't looked back since. What I love most is helping people make sense of their problems, working pluralistically to find what actually fits for each person. That same philosophy guides how I coach!
My approach
My approach is warm, collaborative, and grounded in coaching psychology principles, including goal setting, solution-focused thinking, and reflective practice.
I believe career coaching works best when it feels like a conversation, and I want to empower and encourage you to lean into your own strengths and talents throughout the process. Having experienced the stress and self-doubt that come with building a psychology career (and lots of it), I create a safe space where you can openly discuss your concerns, explore your options, and work through challenges without judgement.
I work collaboratively with you to understand your unique situation and goals, and we'll develop strategies that are realistic for where you're at in your journey. My clients often tell me they leave our sessions feeling clearer about their next steps and more confident in presenting their experience, which is exactly what I hope to achieve.
Disclaimer: I'm completing my doctorate at City St George’s, University of London and provide career coaching based on coaching psychology principles, extensive clinical experience, and a proven track record. I am not yet HCPC registered and do not provide psychological therapy services.
