FAQs

  • Yes, I offer support for Psychology Doctorate applications, including the DClinPsy. As I work closely with both trainee and qualified Clinical Psychologists in the NHS, I am aware of the competencies of a Trainee Clinical Psychologist, and can still help with general application principles, your supporting statement, and interview preparation techniques.

However, please be aware that my direct experience is with the Counselling Psychology Doctorate pathway, so while I can provide general guidance on doctorate applications, my specific insights are most relevant to DCounsPsy applications.

  • Absolutely! Many psychology graduates worry about having 'limited' clinical experience, but often you have more relevant experience than you realise. A big part of what I do is helping you identify and present your transferable skills effectively.

I'll help you articulate the value of your placements, volunteer work, research experience, and even non-psychology roles in a way that demonstrates the competencies employers are looking for. Often it's not about having more experience, but about communicating what you've gained from your existing experience more clearly.

  • Yes, I work with international applicants who are looking to pursue psychology careers in the UK. Many of my services, such as CV reviews, supporting statement feedback, interview preparation, and career coaching - are relevant regardless of your background.

  • Definitely! I can provide reviews for other mental health related roles, e.g. support worker, peer worker, psychology assistant, mental health practitioner, etc.

  • Career coaching is for when you're feeling uncertain about your direction in psychology or overwhelmed by the options available. These sessions are exploratory and flexible, and we'll discuss your interests, goals, and the different psychology pathways.

Specific application support (for Assistant Psychologist roles or Psychology Doctorates) is more targeted and practical. These services focus on strengthening particular applications, such as reviewing your CV, supporting statements, or personal statements, and preparing for interviews. You'll come to these sessions with specific documents or applications you're working on.

  • Yes, I review completed documents rather than helping with the initial writing process. You should have a full draft ready for feedback.

  • No, I provide guidance on what to change and may suggest approaches for rewording, but the actual writing remains your responsibility. This ensures your authentic voice comes through.
